William Lewis persuaded a Clay County, Missouri jury to find in his client’s favor and award a defense verdict in favor of the Defendant who was involved in a read-end collision.
Plaintiff, Dennis Taylor brought suit against Defendant, Ruth Ingalls for damages he alleged resulting from a rear-end collision on Highway 169 in Smithville, Missouri. Plaintiff’s vehicle was stopped on the Highway in preparation to make a turn and Defendant could not stop her vehicle on wet pavement in time to avoid the collision.
Plaintiff alleged neck and back injuries requiring past and future medical expenses in excess of $30,000 and alleged lost profits in excess of $100,000. Defendant offered to settle the case prior to trial for $12,500. The jury returned a verdict giving Plaintiff no award.
Plaintiff’s experts were Dr. Bernard Abrams, neurosurgeon, and Dawn Liebrandt, D.C. Defendant’s expert was Dr. Robert Boulware, M.D.
